A visit to Nozomi's grandparent's house
Jumaat cuti sekolah so we've been invited by my friend Hiroko san to her parents (Nozomi's grandparents' house) in Kugenuma Enoshima. We were from Motomachi Chukagai took the Minatomirai sen to Yokohama eki then changed to Tokaido sen for Fujisawa and changed another densha to Kugenuma eki.
Before the exit we already saw the grandma waiting for us. She was so excited to see us coming. We walked together to the house which was very closed the station. The station was very small and Hiroko told me this is a village area but to me it's modernly organised n u can never tell except for the narrow road. All the houses here were so beautiful and even their house was so big with big garden and the children enjoyed running around and jumping. They plucked the fruits n flowers. Obasan and ojiisan were so patient with the kids. Obasan even combed Qistina's hair and tied her hair. She also liked hugging everyone especially when Qistina was crying she softly talked her out of her sadness.
I was so touched with their hospitility. They're so warmth and very open. I felt like they're just my own parents. I just don't know how else to show my appreciation to them. We were really enjoying ourselves.
Hiroko knew that i like kimono so she and her mom showed us her kimonos. Amazing.... they had many kimonos and all were very expensive ones. They even had the 80 yrs old kimono for baby... wow....even the rain coat kimono also made frm silk and looked brand new. They're really rich family. Their great grandparents were medical doctors, dentist and bankers in the line. Hiroko's father also a doctor and was a president for a medical school in Kawasaki. Now he's 82 yrs old n still in good health. I saw they hang an award and a recognition from the Japanese government in their tatami's room.
Their house was just like one of the houses in Sankien Garden. Antique furnitures (the drawer to keep the kimono may be aged more than 150 yrs), tatami rooms, corridor and a painted sliding door (i can't remember what did they call it). but they're so humble though when she asked us to eat cherries that's still not in the season (n it was so sweet) Nozomi tried to ask how much it costs but she didn't tell us. she only said it was the only one in the store.
She's willing to do anything for the grandchildren and us as the guests. She even baked a pound cake that had to be hand beaten for an hour and hello.... she's 73 yrs old. She kept feeding us with sushi, pizza, ice cream, cakes, fruits until i couldn't breath coz too full. She packed the cake to take home together with osenbei and dried shrimps. I could never thank her enough.
When we're going to the the Enoshima island coz only less than 10 min drive, obasan were worried about us getting cold so she gave us hot pack to take together. She's very concern about everything. She told us not to buy the sazae (some kind of sea snail) coz they're not fresh. We didn't stay long at the island only walking around and the kids were tired so we got back home.
After got back she fed us again and it was time to go back. It was really an enjoyable memory. Arigatou gozaimashita obasan, ojiisan, hiroko n nozomi.... we'll never forget you....
p/s: we took alot of photos but couldn't show coz all my photobucket, photopages r full.
